Club Executive Committee

Club Executive Committee

Name: Graham Ellis

Role/s Title: Club Chairman

Occupation: Architect

What role involves:
My responsibilities involve overseeing the general running of the football club, co-ordinating the Committee meetings and ensuring that The Club Constitution and Rules are adhered to within those meetings.
Part of my role is to assist and guide the Executive Committee, liaise with governing bodies, associates and other organisations in order to enhance the running and development of the club, whilst also advising and dealing with club matters as and when required by taking on specific tasks within the club structure.

How long been involved with club:
My first involvement with the club came one Sunday morning in 1995 when I went to City Road, which when I arrived was filled with children and parents all of whom seen an advert for a new football team placed in the local paper. Whilst looking on amazed at all these children, I was co-opted/volunteered by club co-founder and friend, Paul Mallon, and others, to help sort this crowd into age groups.
Their persuasive skills were later used again to make me volunteer to help train and run a team, which I did for the following six seasons, even though at that time I didn't have any children playing for BJFC !!!!
A break from management followed, but I still represented the club at some initial meetings where the concept of Bridgewater Park was evolved and turned into lottery bid by Salford Council.
Then came the wilderness years, where I could have each Saturday and Sunday to myself (heaven), until a few years back, when my son decided he wanted to play football. Of course, when it came to the choice of which club, there wasn't any contest, and yes, you've guessed, I just couldn't resist assisting with the coaching which eventually lead to me becoming Vice -Chairman alongside the other club founder and now Club President David Lord.

And as for becoming the Club Chairman, the rest, as they say.........is history.

One note of caution for all parents, just remember, I only went to City Road that morning to teach my daughter how to ride her bike and look what happened to me, it could be you next !!!!!!

Name: Deborah Tinsley

Role/s Title: Club Secretary & Child Welfare Officer

Occupation: Client Service Manager

What role involves:
My responsibilities with the Club until now have been as Vice Chairman. However, the Club has seen some changes and I have relinquished this role to take on the role of Club Secretary.

The Secretary's role involves liaising with the relevant Football Leagues and Manchester/Lancashire Football Association. I handle the league registrations for all teams and 'player fines'. I also have responsibility for the facilities/maintenance of the club such as utilities and insurance and any ad hoc administration.

My initial role as Child Welfare Officer has enabled the Club to get the coveted status of Chartered Standard and then moving up to Development status. This has been through the help of the many Managers, committee members involved with the Club who have all contributed to the success and growth of the Club over the last eight years.

Part of my role is to ensure that all the Club’s Coaches have completed their Level One FA badge, completed a First Aid Course,Child Protection Course and have Criminal Records Checks done, which enables us to provide qualified coaches to coach football to our members.

How long been involved with club:
Eight years ago when David and I took our son Christopher down to football on New City Road. At this point little did we know how much we would get involved with the Club. On a Sunday morning I am now back at New City Road with our younger son Luke who has just started out with the Academy. My own personal vision has always been that we provide good quality football for our members at grass roots and to see their enjoyment is rewarding.

It has also been very rewarding to be a Trustee for the Club and watch as the Club has grown significantly in the years. The Club’s achievements over the years have been significant and I am sure that this will continue.

Role/s Title: Club Treasurer

Occupation: Systems Integration Manager

What role involves:
The Club Treasurer is responsible for managing all club finances including income and expenditure. I liaise with team managers and officials to arrange collection of club fees and ensure that all spend,
invoices and bills authorised by the club are paid. I keep an accurate account of all transactions and am responsible for the club bank account. I prepare the club’s accounts and make financial reports to the Club members and to the Club Executive Committee annually and upon request.

How long been involved with club:
I was only appointed to the role of Treasurer in July 2009. I have a grandson who will be playing for the Under 10's Bulls in the 2009-2010 season and another grandson who is in the Academy. I have been a supporter of the club since 2005 and regularly attend the games and training sessions my grandchildren are involved in. I am impressed by the time and effort the managers and officials give to ensure the club is run in a professional manner and decided I would like to help in any way I could.

Name: Ian Greene

Myself and Dave Tinsley are responsible for making sure that the pitches at Boothstown are well maintained - seeded, cut and marked out. How long been involved with club:
My son joined the club 7 years ago and I have been involved ever since.

If not involved for a long time, why you decided to become a part of the Exec/Club:

Name: Angela Hutton

Role/s Title:
Social/Fundraising Secretary, Child Welfare Officer

Occupation: Specialist Practice Nurse within the community.

What role involves:
I help to organise social/fundraising events that raise funds for Boothstown JFC.

How long been involved with the club:
I am A mother of two players within the BFC, and I live locally in Boothstown with my husband and three young children. For the last seven years I have stood on every pitch sideline supporting and cheering my two elder boys on, either in training or playing at the weekends for their teams.

In 2008, I joined the BFC committee as a social / fundraising secretary in order to help with all aspects of fundraising. In 2008,I helped organise the BFC Autumn Dinner Dance, the Boothstown Wobble in June 2009 and finally, the Paul Mallon Football Tournament in June 2009. I always welcome any support / advice and ideas on any aspect of social events or fundraising for the future.

I am also one of the Child Welfare Officers and a point of contact for any advice or concerns.

One of two main reasons why I got involved, is the fact that BFC is a great, forward thinking club, with a real community feel. It is a very welcoming, lively and social club. The fact that I have two children already playing for the club, and the possibility that my youngest child will be eventually joining, means that I can help to ensure the club continues to grow and develop, and be part of something that my children enjoy.

The previous management of the club, have done a fantastic job in getting the club to where it is today, and hopefully we can all build on this success and keep the club moving forward both internally and within the community.

Name: Gill Bannister

Role/s Title: Minutes Secretary

Occupation: Financial Support Officer

What role involves:
Taking notes at AGMs, Managers Meetings, Disciplinary hearings, distributing the minutes to the Managers ad relevant parties.

How long been involved with club:
My husband Rob has been coach for the Under 11 Aces for the past three years and our son Matt plays for the Aces.

If not involved for a long time, why you decided to become a part of the Exec/Club:
I have not really been involved with the football club previously, I had a small part to play over the past three years in which I helped organise the Aces Christmas and Summer parties with the Managers wife, Debbie Meaney, and we arranged food and refreshments, and also for the away tournaments. I watch the occasional game, but must admit I am not very knowledgeable about football, but hope to learn more!

Rob and I also have a daughter, Zoe who is 14, and I got more involved with girlie things, shopping on a Saturday etc., however. as Zoe is now older and prefers to spend our money without me being present! I feel I now have some spare time to help out the club. I am also getting more involved with helping Rob on the paperwork side of running the Aces, as he will taking over as Manager from Steve Meaney.

For the short time I have been involved with the Club I can appreciate how much time and effort the Executive Committee, Event Organisers and Managers put into this Club, it is a big commitment out of their own time and I would like to help ease their workload in some way.
